What does the NHS say about Menopause?

“The Menopause is when a woman stops having periods and is no longer able to get pregnant naturally.” The majority of menopausal women will experience symptoms due to hormonal changes within the body, such as:

  • Anxiety and mood swings
  • Low libido
  • Hot flushes
  • Vaginal dryness
  • Difficulty sleeping
  • Problems concentrating and remembering

If symptoms are severe and cause disruption to day-to-day life your GP can offer treatments to help provide relief. Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT) is a common treatment for menopause symptoms. It works by replacing oestrogen within the body using tablets, skin patches, gels and implants
