Self-Care Advice

Breastfeeding is a beautiful bond from mother to baby, however it can present many challenges and does not work for all. We want to support mums wherever we can and at whatever stage of nursing they are at and we know that is not only the physical aspect of breastfeeding that can be tiring but emotionally as well. Here are some self-care tips that can help you maintain a healthy well-being and a healthy breastfeeding experience.

  • Take downtime where you can: You are most likely feeding or pumping multiple times a day, utilise this time to take a minute for yourself. Listen to a podcast, call a friend or just take 10 minutes to let your mind rest
  • Plan in some you time: Being organised ahead of time is definitely a big part of motherhood, so when planning your week ahead schedule in some time for you and whatever you need to do to relax
  • Nutrition is key: Nursing mothers should be eating 1800 calories a day so their body has enough energy to function normally and produce milk for their baby. Eating the right amount is one part of it but the more nutrition you take in the more nutritious your milk will be
