    What is postpartum hair loss?

    During pregnancy the body experiences high amounts of oestrogen and progesterone.

    The high levels of these hormones cause the hair to remain in an extended period of growth resulting in thicker hair.

    Once your hormone levels drop after postpartum your hair starts to shed up to 400 strands a day.

    By 6 months postpartum the hair loss rate should reduce to pre-pregnancy

    • Change your hairstyle. Try a new cut that offers more volume or restyle your hair as flat, straight hair can make hair loss even more obvious.
    • Moisturise. Nourish damaged or thin hair by moisturising from root to end, this will help hair look shinier and stronger.
